Francene Colvin, Ph.D.
Dr. Colvin is a Staff Psychologist for the
San Francisco Spine Center at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital and
is in Private Practice in San Francisco. She received a
Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley
and then a Master of Arts degree in School Psychology from San
Francisco State University. She completed her Doctorate in
Clinical Psychology from the California School of Processional
Psychology in Berkeley, California. Dr. Colvin worked in
several school districts in California for over 5 years and has
been in private practice for approximately 20 years in San
Francisco where she has a general psychological practice with
specialty in Pain Psychology. Dr. Colvin has been affiliated
with the San Francisco Spine Center since its inception in
1990.
As a member of the multi-disciplinary team at
the San Francisco Spine Center, Dr. Colvin, has worked extensively
with patients who are experiencing chronic pain. She brings
to the group a unique psychological perspective and understands
that pain can greatly effect the emotional well-being of the
individual. Her work at the San Francisco Spine Center
includes, consulting with doctors and staff, and evaluation and
treatment of individuals who require psychological intervention.
Dr. Clovin states that, "It is not uncommon for patients to
experience depression and anxiety in response to their pain.
We must help them with their emotional difficulties in order to
maximize their treatment."
Dr. Colvin helps patients set realistic goals
for themselves. She is very optimistic in her approach and
believes that she can positively effect the patient's recovery and
return to a functional life.
