Masami Hattori, M.D., M.P.H
Dr. Hattori is board certified in
Anesthesiology and Pain Management. He is an anesthesiology trained
pain management specialist for the San Francisco Spine Center at
Saint Francis Memorial Hospital and a Staff Anesthesiologist at
Kaiser Permanente, Oakland.
After earning his medical degree from the
University of California San Francisco, Dr. Hattori completed
anesthesiology residency at University of California Irvine. He
then went on to sub-specialize in pain management. Dr. Hattori
completed his pain management specialty at one of the nation's top
pain management fellowship at University of California San
Francisco. After his fellowship, Dr. Hattori remained at University
of California San Francisco as a clinical instructor, where he
trained other residents and fellows in practice of pain
management.
Dr. Hattori is a highly skilled pain
management specialist who treats various pain symptoms including
back pain, neck pain, reflex sympathetic dystrophy, cancer pain,
headache, neuropathic pain, peripheral neuropathy, pelvic/abdominal
pain, and others.
His approach is to employ various modalities
available to pain management specialists. These include physical
therapy, aquatherapy, medications, pain psychology, acupuncture,
biofeedback, injections, and others. He offers injections
such as epidural steroid injections, sympathetic blocks,
epidurolysis, facet injections, rhizotomy, Botox injections,
neurolysis, and other injections. He also offers dorsal column
stimulator and intrathecal pump for those patients who have tried
more conservative pain treatments.

Lastly, Dr. Hattori works closely with
other specialists at San Francisco Spine Center including
neurologist, physiatrist, psychologist, and orthopedic spine
surgeons to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to managing
pain.
