Patient Financial Advisors are available to all In-patients, Outpatients and Emergency Patients who have been treated or will be treated at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital. Financial Advisors act as liaisons between patients and Saint Francis Memorial Hospital answering all questions regarding hospital bills and cost for services received. Advisors verify all health insurance benefits and eligibility for patients, working closely with Patient Case Management and Physicians to ensuring authorizations are obtained and insurance guidelines are met so that patients can be treated completely utilizing their maximum insurance coverage for services that are medically necessary.

Saint Francis Memorial Hospital is a non-profit hospital; we do treat patient's who are not insured on emergent and urgent basis regardless of their ability to pay. Financial advisors screen all patients "Self-pay" and insured patients for programs such as Medicare, Medi-Cal, Victims of Violent Crimes, Community Charity and hospital charity programs, in compliance with CHW, Federal and State Governmental guidelines, for medical services provided. If patients are eligible for any program or service that will pay for or cover medical expenses, Saint Francis financial advisors will assist patients in all process required in resolving their hospital accounts.

Financial counselors help insured patients navigate their eligibility and benefits, and help uninsured patients to access programs that can assist them. Counselors act as liaisons between patients and Saint Francis Memorial Hospital, providing payment arrangements to fit particular financial needs and providing answers surrounding hospital bills.

Patient Financial Services works closely with the Case Management Department to ensure patients' benefits are being fully utilized to meet their medical needs. Indigent patients will never be turned away due to lack of benefits. After treatment, counselors screen uninsured patients to see if they are eligible for Medicare, MediCal, or community and/or hospital charity programs.
