Dr. Garrick's research interests include epidemiology of sports injuries; implantation of autologous chondrocytes to repair full thickness cartilage defects; balance testing to stage ankle rehabilitation; empirically derived injury prevention. Knee and ankle injuries make up over 75% of his practice. He enjoys working with both recreational and high level athletes and he sees many dancers, figure skaters and gymnasts.
He has written five books, Ski Conditioning (1978), Peak Condition (1986), Be Your Own Personal Trainer (1989), Sport Injuries -Diagnosis and Management (1990), Anybody's Sports Medicine Book: The Complete Guide to Quick Recovery from Injuries, with science writer Peter Radetsky, Ph.D., of the University of California at Santa Cruz (2000), as well as numerous articles for medical journals and book chapters. Dr. Garrick frequently gives presentations at national and international medical meetings and is often sought after by the media to discuss problems related to sports medicine.
