The Saint Francis Memorial Hospital
Cardiology and Neurology Department is available for inpatient care
24/7. Outpatient services are provided during regular
business hours, Monday through Friday. A complete spectrum of
services is offered. Our board-certified technologists are
trained in the latest digital cardiology and neurodiagnostic
services.
Studies include:

Electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) - recording the
electrical activity of the heart

Holter Monitor - continuous 24 or 48 hour monitoring of
the EKG

Treadmill Exercise Stress Test - recording and
monitoring of the EKG during exercise

Echocardiogram - the configuration and condition of the
heart's walls, chambers and valves are studied using this
non-invasive technique

Electroencephalogram (EEG) - records the electrical
activity of brain cells
-
Electromyogram (EMG) - measures the changes in the
electrical potential of muscles at rest, with voluntary
contraction, and with nerve stimulation
-
Persantine or Adenosine Stress Tests - Recording and
monitoring of the EKG during rest using vasodilators.
In addition, the following studies are
performed with the use radiologic support in Imaging
Services:

Non-invasive Carotid Study - evaluation of the arteries
in the neck using non-invasive ultrasonic scanning

Peripheral Artery Examination with exercise - evaluation
of blood flow to lower extremities using ultrasonic scanning
during exercise

Venous Examination - ultrasonic scanning of the lower
extremities to determine deep vein thrombosis
-
Transcranial Doppler Examination - evaluation of
arterial blood flow velocities in the brain using ultrasound.
